NGK Review (Spoiler free)

NGK - 😜Smiley Review 😎

Finally the movie released after the release date change spree, but still expectations were high coz first time Suriya & Selva combo😘, Yuvan musical🥰, political backdrop, but to be honest movie didn't satisfy all kind of audience🤗, seems like fans have to wait for Kappan for Suriya to break the chain of flops😓😓😓

Suriya😎 - Selvaraghavan told "he is a director's delight", absolutely right he had put his body n soul to the character, the different shades of the character arc is done to its best using his body language and expressions, after a long time the performer in him gets a chance to break the boundaries, literally he carried the movie on shoulders👍👍👍

Sai pallavi🙄 - Owing to the fact that its a Selva movie, that over the top performance can be seen from every characters, but Sai pallavi tops the chart with the annoying exaggerated acting🤐🤐🤐

Rakul Preet Singh👌 - Given a decent role to show her true potential rather than just skin show🤘 and she had done justice to the character👏but the very first thought comes to the mind is her character resemblance to the 'Priya Anand' character in movie #LKG😜

Bala singh🤟 - One of Selva's fav guy, usually given good roles in his movies and as usual did a great job, what director expected is delivered, its his character through which Suriya's different shade is portrayed and his portion with suriya at auditorium is one of the best scene of the movie💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

All the supporting cast especially Suriya's mom, friend, MLA character did a good job in building the mood of the film, but suddenly movie travels to different dimensions and characters lose their track🤐🤐🤐

Director Selvaraghavan🤩 - known for his unorthodox film making, raw characterisation and the blatant jibe on reality of life through his dialogues but his last few films didn't do well at box office, the main problem is he fails in conveying his ideas to the audience, nothing wrong in making complicated movies but have to keep in mind the audience level also, the different shades of suriya is understood only to few people, also why he is behaving like that, for what purpose he is doing all these, no proper justification is given or could have been given a better clarity, he simply switches his mood on every scene, some things are missing/incomplete and the team claims "its hidden layers, you have to observe closely" nothing wrong but if audience didn't get a better picture of the work ultimately its the collection going to affect🤕🤕🤕

Also it was a shocker that hell lot of logic mistakes, force fit commercial elements, lack of detailing was there in this movie which happens rarely in Selva movies (oops! sorry "hidden layers") 🤨🤨🤨

Music Yuvan Shankar Raja🥳 - Back bone of the movie is bgm, Songs were ok, "Anbe pernabe" even though a nice track, it's placement & picturisation is completely odd to the flow of movie🧐🧐🧐

Cinematography Sivakumar Vijayan😎 - One of the biggest positive of the movie, many a places just placed the camera idle and allowed suriya to perform which indeed gave that impact, also the shot divisions, the framing of the backgrounds in moving shots, one of the "hidden layer" is the colour tone of the movie, the different shades of Suriya (the naive guy to the boot licker to the seasoned politician) wil be shown in different colour tones for eg. Green, Yellow and Red🤩🤩🤩

Editing, Costumes, Art, Choreography and other technical dept did a great job in delivering a quality visual product🤝🤝🤝

Positives 👍 : Suriya's performance, Strong dialogues, Cinematography, BGM

Negatives 👎 : Lack of clarity a.k.a hidden layers of movie😝, jump in the screenplay, less engaging factors, abrupt climax

One sad fact with the creators like Selva, GVM, Kamal Hassan is that they are prodigious and works will be of that level but they fail in conveying what they did to the layman audience, this is not a problem but they can help it using some patch work scenes like unveiling the plot or the hidden layers using some  montage or passing shots (like in Vikram Vedha or Vada chennai ) so that audience will get a better picture of the concept and enjoy well bcz not every audience gonna spent time on YouTube to find the hidden layers after stepping out of theatre

So, if you fall to the above category, you can enjoy the movie bcz there are some solid moments of acting from Suriya otherwise its another passable political movie😌😌😌

General Audience : 3/5
Family Audience : 2.5/5
Critics : 3/5
Suriya/Selva fans : 4.5/5

Verdict : Average☺ (Good opening)

😜#KS 😎
