After #Suriya's last movies, fans were in an agitated mode that they will take anything commercial and the trailer also looked promising, but unfortunately again a half baked movie😓😓😓
Suriya😎 - That one actor who will go to any extreme for a movie, but all his efforts are turning futile because of his script selection, don't know whether he is giving dates based on friendship or under some influence, this movie literally have no scope for Suriya in any manner🤔🤔🤔
It's OK to go with commercial entertainer in Tamil market as his last 2 3 flicks didn't strike well at boxoffice, but it has to be a solid one, this one is almost a template story with very few high points which will never match up with Ayan or even Maatran😪😪😪
Mohanlal😍 - For his level, this role is just a cake walk, did a neat job but a strong feeling that some body from Hindi would have been a better cast for this role as the story revolves around North Indian landscape and that dialect would be apt for the role🤗🤗🤗
Boman Irani😅 - Don't know what grudge director have towards Ambani🤣, another corporate villian destroying agriculture in the nation (which includes only Tamil Nadu),seen a 1000 times recently😬😬😬, his technique of doing that even though scientifically possible felt very very funny to be honest😆😆😆
Arya🙄 - Seriously a doubt is there, whether director narrated him the story to get his date, a role fit for a debutant, roped in for market value and he did well in the limited screen space💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Sayyesha😂 - Just used as a filler for glamour and double meaning jokes, since the songs were also pathetic couldn't utilise her dance skills also😕😕😕
Chirag Jani😤 - A debutant I guess, whatever it is in KV Anand movie, villians will have that flamboyance and an equal solid role as hero, here also a decent one and he did complete justice👌👌👌
In such commercial movies, villian has to be either smart or should terrorise, then only audience will enjoy when hero beats him physically n mentally, that angle is exploited here but everything is in a softened tone, that cat and mouse game could have been made more interesting but again a template flashback spoiled it🙁🙁🙁
Samuthirakani😅 - Again a clichéd friend role that is seen from the starting of Tamil cinema, anyways his double meaning one liners worked well in the movie😜😜😜
A lot of people are there in the movie just to create an ambience and yes the ensemble fills the atmosphere 👏👏👏
Director KV Anand🤒, #Ayan was the highest grosser of that year, infact Suriya earned a commercial super star status by that movie but #Maattran received a mixed response, and now a third collaboration in Kaappaan
Since he himself was a journalist, a tint of investigative journalism is always peppered in his scripts, new concepts, new ideas, almost watching an infotainment channel, nothing wrong in that, but it should not be force fitted, just like I want to add all the things I know or address all the problems in one go, that should not be done, only the required content related to the story must be picturised
The basic crux of the movie is farming and its related issues, but a poor template outer story is written just to balance the commercial side, even though Delhi and PM are shown, all the events happening in movie is related to Tamil Nadu, no authenticity is there and Suriya escapes from Pakistan just like he escapes from a local prison, doing organic farming but an undercover military agent that proportion is not at al matching, OK🙏 its a commercial movie but atleast a sync or connection should be there, also few scenes directly replicated from his previous movies like #Ko & #Kavan😝😝😝
Music Harris Jayaraj😘, except #Sirukki track, could not even bear to hear other songs and their placement makes it even worse, again a disappointment from his side, in the RR and bgm we can easily find out all his previous works🤪🤪🤪
Cinematography, Editing, Costumes, Choreography, Action, VFX and other technical dept did a great job, it was a beautiful visual treat🤝🤝🤝
The team could have made a better story with some solid mass moments and gripping screenplay, this one is too average, lengthy and less engaging, the action sequences were good especailly the train sequence which is the only whistle worthy moment other than the few one liners which comes very rare😐😐😐
Positives 👍 : Suriya's Screen presence, Villian character, Cinematography, Train sequence, relevant dialogues
Negatives 👎: Clichéd story, Movie duration, weak characterisation, poor songs, lack of authenticity, abrupt climax
Over all, the team fails on making a commercial entertainer that is aligned with the main story thread and ends up with an average one time watch movie🤐🤐🤐
