Kaithi Review (Spoiler free)

Kaithi - 😜Smiley Review 😎

First of all, appreciate the guts of the team to make a 2.5hr movie without heroine and without songs and to release for a festival that too clashing with the titan Bigil🥳, got only fewer number of theatres but still gave a terrific fight and raked in good opening and WOM🔥🔥🔥

Karthi🤩 - After a series of disasters, now spot on the track with Theeran & Kadaikutty Singam, he usually pulls off this kind of local rugged raw characters very well than a sophisticated flamboyant role - kind of his strong/comfort zone, he gave a very realistic performance as lorry driver (ex-convict) "Dilli" - the body language, attitude, dialect, costume everything was so perfect, put his body n soul to the action sequences and it yielded good results. Sublime piece of acting on both the mass scenes & emotional scenes🔥🔥🔥

Narain👌 - a talented person but always a bit unlucky, this time got a meaty role and he delivered his best, the emotions of a father at the same time as a responsible commanding police officer did a good job✌✌✌

Dheena 😂 - A sidekick for Karthi, his witty counters and one liners worked out well and was a comic relief in the grave screenplay, a decent performance on the climax emotional scene also🤘🤘🤘

Arjun Dass😡, Ramana, Harish Uthaman & Hareesh Peradi🤬 -  Villians can't be more terrific than this, not in terms of their actions but the way their characters are written, each one of them is given a solid space in the script and everyone was so damn terrifying and executed their part neatly🤟🤟🤟

George😝 - If an age-old  junior artist gets big round of applause and theatre moments, it's self explanatory how well the screenplay is, did justice to his role🤗🤗🤗

College students, Karthi's daughter, Undercover officer, Police black sheep and the other ensemble, everyone did a fantastic job just playing to the character👏👏👏

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj😎 - Very fond of this one night story it seems, like his previous(debut) movie "Maanagaram", Kaithi also revolves around things happening at one night, infact 3 to 4 subplots are there in the movie like the college students who are arrested for drunk and drive, drug portals and their problems, rescuing police officers from villians, Karthi & daughter's backstory - but the beauty is how everything converges to a single point.

Film making is all about story telling and how well you execute it, a little bit of cinematic liberty is used like how come everything just fall in places for the hero at the right juncture but its the strong writing and execution that convinces us in believing what the director shows on screen.

A 2.5 hr movie comprising hell lot of action sequences & bloodshed without any breathing space for songs but no where lag is felt, screenplay is so engrossing and the making is  simply outstanding, entire movie is shot at night that too in difficult terrains like forests, roads, hills, also travelling on a lorry🙏, the set work of the commissioner office, vfx on the chasing scenes and the climax shoot out everything was so convincing and not even a glitch was there💪🏼, hatsoff to the director for pulling off such a beauty who is just one film old🤩🤩🤩

Music Sam CS 🥰- the sound design and bgm is some what easy for routine films, template tracks can be used, but for realistic stories like this, it's so challenging because music plays a key role here in conveying the story, the night groove to lorry tyre sound to Karthi's hand cuff giggling noise, every thing is taken care off - an output par excellence😇😇😇

Cinematography Sathyan Sooryan 😘 - Since the entire movie happens at night, it's very difficult to set the lighting because if you use artificial lighting that original raw feel will be lost and it will kill the mood, don't know how he managed to shoot all those scenes that too perfectly, shots were outstanding especailly for all the fights, chasing scenes and shoot out. Most of the places that original lorry, JCB, vehicles lighting is used to match with the atmosphere of the scene. DI and color tone was 100% apt for the story plot☺☺☺

Editing Philomin Raj🤓 - What should be done for an action genre thriller, that is done perfectly at the same time neatly packed in the emotional portion between Karthi and his daughter, the slow-mo mass shots in action scenes, fast - cut chasing scenes, allotting ample time for sentiment scenes, a fine piece of work elevating an already engaging movie to even more enthralling one 😍😍😍

Costumes, Action Choreography, DI, Art, VFX, Sound mixing, every other tech and non tech dept did a clinical execution on delivering an edge of the seat thriller🤝🤝🤝

This cant be said as a 100% realistic movie, as cinematic liberty is used a bit in convenience to shape the story especially towards climax, but no where it went out of the limits or superficial, director takes the audience to a mood where even though hero is beaten to death, audience will seek the hero to avenge the villian and as in every Indian film, Karthi - the hero single handedly kills numerous rowdies in the entire duration of movie & even after stabbed multiple times will raise again and gives away a Marana mass fight, such elements are there but haven't over done  to make it very commercial or flashy🤗🤗🤗

Positives 👍: Karthi, Performance of Cast, Direction, Screenplay, Action sequences, Sound design, Cinematography, Editing

Negatives 👎: Climax shoot out is really awesome but felt like a surprising escape from dead end or ended abruptly (could have been better)

Overall, a tightly packed solid action thriller with state of the art making, not so recommended for family & children but all movie lovers should definitely give a watch at the theatres for its wonderful experience❤❤❤

Karthi/Lokesh fans : 5/5
General Audience : 3.5/5
Critics : 4.5/5
Family Audience : 3/5

Verdict : Super Hit

PS : That end punch from villian is really a goosebumps overload scene🥳🥳🥳

Villian's sidekick : Boss, who is he, why the hell a stranger like him crossing our path???

Villian : His name is 'Dilli' , he is very much involved in our path🔥🔥🔥

Title card is shown - Awaiting #Kaithi 2🤩🤩🤩
