Soorarai Pottru Review (Spoiler free)

 Soorarai Pottru✈️

Right from the first look, this movie is the talk of the town because of it's unique team up and the plot, a "BIOPIC" that too of Deccan Air founder Captain GR Gopinath🙏🏻(based on his book "Simply Fly") literally everyone was waiting for the take off and each song, promo material elevated the expectation sky high🙌🏻 but unfortunately the movie couldn't hit the silver screen and was scheduled for an OTT release, but believe me you don't want a 70mm to FEEL a good movie😇

Suriya👏🏻 - He was struggling hard for a victory, a real one, let it be commercial or critical each attempt turns out be a half baked one, either the story didn't demanded the actor in him or his performance alone couldn't save an average script but this one was tailor made for him, a great plot which demands a great actor, that fire🔥 that dream🤩 or the desperation was in his eyes (airport scene when he holds his tears before breaking down - bliss), he literally get into the skin of the character both physically and mentally, even the slang or modulations when he is angry, crying, yelling, loving, or seeking a favour - it was perfect and reminded me of his all time epic #Varanamaayiram😘 a stand out performance

Paresh Rawal😤 - what is expected from a villian, you should really hate him whenever you see him on screen right? and guess what you are gonna loathe him whenever he appears, once again proved that a gem of an actor doesn't require more screen space to prove🤟

Urvashi & Aparna😍 - Both of them really is a female lead in this movie, Urvashi mam no words to explain, her experience just says everything, that emotional breakdown scene between her and Suriya - I felt like watching Kamal Hassan😜 acting in lady getup

Aparna, claimed that she prepared for around one year for the character and yes it did really paid off, a shoulder to shoulder performance with suriya, the qualities of the character she played should actually complement suriya's in many situations and she pulled off well on both romantic & emotional sequences✌🏻

Karunas & Kaali Venkat - As the naive and beloving relatives of village, they did a decent job👌🏻

Suriya's friends - a short & simple but solid characters with some cute friendship moments, did complete justice to the role🤘🏻

Mohan Babu😎 - As suriya's cheif he just nailed it, it's him who give the cue for all theatrical moments(which was supposed to be) & his baritone voice was a perfect fit

Suriya's dad, Venture capitalist & the other ensemble🤝🏻 - What the director asked for is delivered to their best👏🏻

Director Mani Ratnam sorry Sudha Kongara😝 - She worked as an associate director with the legend Mani sir for 7 years, that touch or niche is definitely attached to her, in many places we can feel it , whatsoever a brilliant depiction of a biopic, yes its fictionalised for the drama, but the ratio is kept low to make the things fall at right place more naturally, a few cinematic liberty or "logic breaks"🤞🏻 is taken for granted but again if the content is rich , screenplay is tight you have the space to do it as it won't make the complete movie experience out of shape 🤷🏻‍♂️

As the captain of the ship, she stay anchored to the idea and brought in the best from the technical & non technical crew💪🏻

Music 🎶 GV Prakash - Whatever be the director creates or the crew executes , it's the music that builds the magic and touches your heart, if that's an art then GVP is an artist😜

The Songs & RR was sublime, just flowed along with the story, already the script is packed with all variety of emotions and the bgm will surely push you off the cliff🥳

Cinematography Niketh🎥 - Being the favourite of Sudha, was given complete freedom and he just made it feel realistic as possible and a hell lot of fresh frames, the location and the sepiac color tone was apt for the mood of the movie and the timeline - a great future ahead🥰

Editor Satish Surya❤️ - A major challenge with biopic is, the climax is already out, so it depends on how well you engage the audience to the screen, how should you structure the scenes so as to give a fresh appeal

He took a turn from the usual tamil format and chose a kind of BBC or National geographic documentary style (a non linear format, always keeping you hooked of what happened before to the character, why is he facing this conflict now) really a great piece of work❣️

Dialogues Vijay kumar🔥(Uriyadi fame) - known for his fiery dialogues and revolutionary quotes, penned down some beautiful lines which will definitely haunt you because it was so real, rustic & relevant and most importantly in sync with the script - not forced for applause (depends on your taste🤷🏻‍♂️) a great contribution

Choreography, Make up, Costumes, DI, VFX, other technical & non technical dept👏🏻 - Did a great job in bringing the movie from script to screen in this budget, hatsoff to the entire crew❤️

Positives 👍🏻 : Performance of the cast, Direction, Music, Camera, Dialogues, Detailing in the script, Inspiring theme and mood

Negatives 👎🏻 : May not work well for people who are least tolerant to cinematic liberty on realistic movies

Overall, an inspiring real life story told in a filmy manner keeping the soul intact, should have been a theatrical release for its moments and a must watch for all those who dream big❣️ or in short

O**@tha poy padathe paarda😎

Family Audience : 4/5

😜#KS😎

PS : Thanks Maddy for the endcard voiceover and also for the team of Gunjan Saxena for bringing in a new statutory warning while depicting scenes of IAF 😂😅🤣 (by the way this statement is completely fictional/for the sake of entertainment and in no manner intended to hurt the sentiments of anyone😝 )
